11 Great Sports Bars in Savannah

Sports and the South go together like biscuits and gravy. And in Savannah, Georgia, there is no shortage of sports fans. There are a number of fantastic sports bars for locals to take in the game on the big screen. In fact, one is hard-pressed to find a neighborhood in Savannah that doesn’t have a sports bar. To help you find your ideal watch spot, we’ve made a list of the best go-to, local bars for enjoying the big game. 

Tailgate Sports Bar & Grill

Tailgate is Savannah’s quintessential Southside sports bar. It’s got everything that sports fans could ever want: good seating, SO many TV’s, an amazing drink selection, and a formidable menu. The servers are known for their flexibility and attention to detail when it comes to customers. They’ve also got a pool table and various other bar games scattered around. Definitely a great place to spend a day off relaxing with good food and drinks to accompany your game of choice on one of their large televisions.

Our favorite: Battalion Burger with Fries

  • Two ½ lb. certified Angus beef patties covered with bacon and your choice of cheese. Served on a brioche bun with lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, onions, mayo, and a fried egg.

Savannah Taphouse

Downtown Savannah is known for its historic lineage, but there’s a real gem of a sports bar hidden amongst all of the legacy and tradition of Georgia’s hostess city. Savannah Taphouse is right on Broughton Street and it’s one of two incredible sports bars in the downtown Savannah area. Padded seats line the mahogany bar, with a large draft selection in the background. Plenty of wooden tables and high-backed chairs fill out the remainder of the space. The Taphouse hosts regular Monday Night Football events and always has the big games on the screens. 

Our favorite: Mac & Cheese Egg Rolls 

Coach’s Corner

There are many bars in Savannah, and some of them are pretty good for sports. But one spot stands supreme as Savannah’s favorite sports bar, and that’s Coach’s Corner. 

 Coach’s Corner has been a  major player in town for more than 30 years. And with good reason. It comes with all the major amenities of a sports bar: food, incredible drinks, so many televisions, regalia hanging from the rafters. Reviews for the bar boast about great service and a family-friendly atmosphere while also being a great space for the most enthusiastic of sports fans. The outdoor seating is comfortable, with projectors to broadcast the top game of the day. Coach’s Corner also has a robust outdoor venue as well, which they describe as having “more seats, more bars” and a great sound system! 

Our favorite: Coach’s Stromboli

  • Mozzarella, pepperoni, sausage, green peppers & onions rolled in pizza dough & baked until golden brown. 

Rachael’s Sports Food and Fun 

1190 King George Blvd, Savannah, GA 31419

Rachael’s Sports Food and Fun is the perfect place to take a friend who thinks the only fun bars in the city are downtown. This small, southside gem sits right off of King George Boulevard, making it an ideal watering hole to hop off 204 and enjoy. Daily food specials and impromptu sporting events, with Happy Eagles Monday and Thursday Football is just some of what to expect when you walk inside. There’s plenty of seating, but if we can’t find a table or booth, there’s always room at the bar.  For those of us that prefer the open air, Rachael’s also has  a gorgeous patio out front that’s perfect for a nice glass of wine on a perfect, fall Savannah evening. 

Our favorite: Chicken and Waffles

Draft Room at Berwick

Here is another suggestion  for those  wanting to get out of the Downtown scene for the evening. The Draft Room at Berwick is a slight turn off of Highway 17 and it’s right in the mix of one of Savannah’s most high-volume shopping areas. The vibe is fun and  a little family-friendly at the same time. Here, the focus is on the vast beer selection accompanied by delicious food and supplemented with friendly and attentive servers. TV’s dot the walls, making it so that we never have to look too far to find the game we’re cheering for. 

Our favorite: Irish Nachos 

  • Waffle fries topped with fresh pico de gallo, bacon, jalapenos, cheddar, mozzarella and queso cheeses

B & D Burgers Bar & Grill

Those of us looking for the biggest screen to watch any game in downtown Savannah, hit B & D Burgers. Their massive projector is up and running as soon as the sun goes down. They’ve got a large outdoor space with plenty of comfy seating and cornhole. The outdoor bar has us covered with beverages and food, so we never have to go long without a drink or a bite to eat. . If you’re not trying to head downtown, no worries—they have four other locations you can stop by as well. 

Our favorite: The Wormsloe

Pour Larry’s 

206 W. St Julian Street, Savannah, Ga. 31401 

Pour Larry’s is where we go to have fun and watch the game in Savannah. Located in City Market, the underground sports bar describes themselves as a “Longtime (rumored to be haunted) hangout in a restored district for drinks, TV sports & live bands.” When we’re trying to catch a game and take a break from the warm Savannah summer, Pour Larry’s always has great A/C, well-priced drinks, and a good TV to cheer on our favorite team.

Bogey’s Sports Bar & Mini Golf

It’s not always convenient to make our way into the city, especially on Saturdays. And for those of us that live on  the islands, it’s always nice to stay close to home. In this case, we head to Bogey’s. 

The bar sits right in front of Bull River Bridge, 10 minutes from Tybee Island, and features a whole arcade of good times. Start the fun off with mini golf before hitting the batting cages. Have a fun time rounding off a good Saturday with a few drinks at the bar before making the next move for the day. 

Our favorite: Buffalo Chicken Pizza

Midtown Sports Grill 

4521 Habersham St, Savannah, GA 31405

Midtown is the new downtown. With plenty of restaurants, shopping spots, one of the best liquor stores in the city and a burgeoning nightlife scene, the area is turning into one of the preferred hangout spots in Savannah. And Midtown Sports Grill is right in the middle of the action. 

The spot features an extensive wine and beer menu, including a killer margarita paired best with their great wings to enjoy in a cozy, fun atmosphere. This is the neighborhood bar where you want everyone to know your name. 

Our favorite: Balsamic Parmesan Sweet Potato Fries 

Ben’s Neighborhood Grill and Tap

Ben’s is one of Savannah’s best kept secrets. The bar is proudly known as the only pub in Midtown, and they’re right. The kitchen is known for sourcing ingredients from local farmers and businesses to make their famous burgers. Other sandwiches, wings, and fish round out the menu. The bar is comfortable, with seating just close enough to one another. The warm red lights and wooden interior meld together to create one of the comfiest bars you’ve ever sat in. Oh, and there’s a ton of TVs for games, too. 

Our favorite: Peach Chutney and Goat Cheese Burger

Norwood Tavern 

2130 Norwood Ave, Savannah, GA 31406

Last but not least, is Norwood Tavern. Why do locals love Norwood Tavern?  It’s not just because they stay open till 3am, or they have three pool tables and a great menu open, but rather because of the folks you’ll meet. The Moon River District has its own collection of restaurants and bars where people out and about will frequent as many haunts as they desire. So Norwood is always filled with people you might not usually see in other downtown spaces. 

Here you’ll find a great  bar area, good amount of TV’s, an amazing patio, pool tables and other amenities that round out what will surely be your best time out south of DeRenne Avenue. 

Our favorite: 10 wings with two delicious flavors of your choice. 

No matter where you decide to go, or who you cheer for, Savannah is our favorite place to watch sports. Even if you’re not a big football fan, you can enjoy any game and any sport from any of these sports bars in Savannah!
