We’re fascinated by the architecture and planning of this East Savannah neighborhood. Like Midtown’s Ardsley Park-Chatham Crescent, the historic Gordonston neighborhood was designed with careful thought and planning. The neighborhood was founded on the Gordon (Juliette Gordon Low) family farm and is in the shape of a triangle with three major roads as its borders: Skidaway Road, Gwinnett Street, and Pennsylvania Avenue. It was developed in 1917 as a solely suburban neighborhood with beautiful green spaces. Back in the early to mid-1900s, streetcar lines ran through Gordonston on Kinzie Avenue to provide quick transportation into the city. While the streetcars are no longer operating, a close-knit, suburban feel remains in this small neighborhood today. Home styles in Gordonston are truly eclectic. We have to point out the more historical architecture in the area like Craftsman Style, Colonial Revival, and Tudor Revival to name a few. 

We love this neighborhood’s quiet, leafy streets along which neighbors can be seen walking their dogs and chatting at mailboxes every day. Yards are on the larger side here with some bigger homes in the area at a more affordable price. The Juliette Low Park is a central gathering space for the community. Every October, the neighborhood hosts the lovely Gordonston Art Fair at the park, and Savannahians come from all around the city to see the fair’s exhibitors and amenities. The neighborhood association also offers book and garden clubs, fundraisers, and holiday events. Gordonston is a warm and inviting neighborhood that beckons those who love connectivity and community.
