Neighborhood Overview

When we think of prime midtown living, we think of Ardsley Park-Chatham Crescent. Developed in the early 1900s, this historic area includes green spaces and parks strategically placed throughout. Colorful, lush arrangements of azaleas and shady oaks line the streets filled with one-of-a-kind architecture. This neighborhood is quintessential Savannah, filled with small businesses, plenty of green space, and numerous school opportunities. It sits far enough from the hustle and bustle of downtown Savannah to give you a breath of fresh air. But it’s still close enough to allow you to take a walk around some of your favorite Historic District haunts.  Homes range from stately Tudor Revival and Neoclassical mansions to cozier Arts and Crafts-style and Dutch-revival homes. For those of us seeking apartment living, we have options here as well.

Some stand-out aspects that we adore about this area are its walkability to the award-winning Savannah Arts Academy, the first dedicated performing and visual arts school in Savannah. The public school sits at the inward tip of the palm-tree-lined Chatham Crescent area and ranks number seven among the top Georgia high schools. The centralized location makes it perfect for us to run errands as there are a plethora of restaurants and shops only a five-minute drive away.  We love how close it is to Savannah’s medical district as well. While this neighborhood doesn’t have a community pool or waterfront property, it is one of a handful of neighborhoods outside of Downtown Savannah to offer a summer splash pad at its Hull Park. Those of us that love historic homes, but enjoy a quieter lifestyle seek Ardsley Park-Chatham Crescent. Like a fine wine, it continues to deepen and mature with age.
