Activity Overview
While downtown Savannah is often recognized for its scenic walkability, there are a number of beautiful walking paths and nature trails around town as well. Most of our parks and green spaces in Savannah have paved loops for leisurely strolls or exercise. Nature lovers especially love hiking in places like the Skidaway Island State Park, which boasts four trails. One might even spot an alligator when walking along the boardwalks that weave over the tidal creeks and through the island hammocks! Not far from there is the UGA Marine Science Center, which also boasts a boardwalk and nature trail as well as a touch tank filled with marine animals for the kids. The walking trails at the Oatland Island Wildlife Center offer unique and up-close views of animals like bison, wolves, bobcats, and bald eagles. Whatever your pace or pleasure, Savannah’s walking scene is robust and diverse.
